Miguel Luciano is my boy, and one of the coolest visual/public artists I know.
He is the man responsible for this:
This is a platinum-plated platano.

This is a platinum-plated platano.

Here’s a message from him about his newest project, happening this weekend:

Come out and enjoy the remaining days of warm weather and have your last piragua of summer at Corona Plaza this Saturday!
I’ll be presenting “Pimp my Piragua”, a public art project of the Queens Museum’s exhibition – Corona Plaza: The Center of Everywhere.
In this project, a typical piragua cart received a complete make-over, transforming into a customized lowrider fantasy-ride with a hi-fi sound and video system.
I’ll be making piraguas at the festival while playing music and video on este Piragua ‘pimpiao.

Where:

Corona Plaza street festival, Queens
(7-train to 103rd-Corona Plaza)

When:  Saturday, SEPT. 20th 12 – 5pm.
